I’m about to start teaching creative writing at The Bowery, Headingley. I’ll lead two different short courses, one for adults, one for teenagers, starting in November. I’m pretty excited. Details are here:
For adults I’ll lead Writing Headingley. Open to all levels, this six week short course will include trips to other locations in the local area using sights and sounds for inspiration. Whether you’re an experienced writer or just starting out, by the end of the six weeks you will not only have written your own Headingley, but may well have discovered new places and friends along the way. This is a six week course, running on Thursdays 11am – 1pm from 10th November 2016. Cost: £65. More Info & Tickets.
For young people aged 11 – 16 I’ll lead Make Me An Author. You’ll explore the core elements of great young adult fiction, including voice, character, narrative and setting, and will produce your own zine by the end of the course. You’ll also gain an insight into the life of an author, how to become one, and different careers in literature and writing. This is a six week course, running on Thursdays 4.30 – 6pm from 10th November 2016. Cost: £65. More Info & Tickets.
If you haven’t yet been to The Bowery, I’d suggest you do something about that pronto. Aside from an (ahem) great range of creative courses, it has a gallery harbouring some brilliant contemporary art and a cafe-shop serving equally brilliant coffee, food and beautiful arty things. No better place for a creative writing course, eh?
